From Walthamstow to Westminster 2.30pm

Stephen RG Bennett is a visual artist who explores relationships between art, knowledge and power. He has exhibited at the Tate Modern, Royal Geographical Society and Terre Verte Gallery. He regularly situates his practice in government institutions, including in Westminster and Whitehall. He is the founder and lead artist of MANIFEST, a programme which supports artists to work in policymaking.

Stephen will share examples and experiences of how he has sought to bring art and artists into policymaking in local and national government in the UK. This includes his own artwork and practice, where he will reference some of the artefacts and artworks he is showing as part of YES! ART. It also includes creating spaces for other artists such as Dryden Goodwin, Semiconductor and YARA+DAVINA to work in institutions as varied as the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Government Office for Science and Adur and Worthing…
