Julia Miranda is an Anglo-Brazilian painter whose work evolves intuitively, moving between abstraction and figuration. The starting point is rarely an idea but the intrinsic quality of the materials, or the found surfaces she has spotted around her Walthamstow studio. Off-cuts of wood, packaging, slate and old prints come with their own history, making interacting with them liberating. What emerges in the process suggests narratives, so the paintings work as a sort of visual diary.

At Yes! Art, Julia will be showing new paintings using gouache, acrylic, pastel and collage, from originals on paper and prints to small paintings and larger canvases.
