Emma Phillips gained her BA in Painting from UAL in 2021, and has since been living and working in East London for various commercial artists whilst maintaining her personal practice across painting, drawing and printmaking.
Emma’s work explores the role of landscape painting within a culture that is increasingly disconnected from its environment. Referencing the history of the landscape genre as a narrative tool, she seeks to retell stories embedded in the land, whether mythological, ecological or personal, to revive a sense of wonder and curiosity in the British landscape. Her recent trip to Wales on the Mawddach Residency studying local folklore has influenced much of her current work on show at Yes! Art.
